XHAKA WILL NOW MISS LIVERPOOL/BURNLEY GAMES

Xhaka was sent off during the Liverpool game on Thursday night in what was a first leg semi-final tie in the Carabao Cup for denying petite Portugal international Diogo Jota a scoring opportunity. The Swiss international captain was expected to miss the second leg semi-final tie with Liverpool in addition to the North London Derby encounter with Spurs, but that has changed with the latest update as regards postponing the game.

Swiss midfielder Xhaka will still miss the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg clash with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium later this week and the home game against Burnley in the Premier League next week Sunday.

Arsenal player Xhaka is a controversial figure at the club and he has divided opinions amongst the fans since his big money transfer from Borussia Moenchengladbach in 2016. Incidentally, the Gunners have not qualified for Champions League football since he signed for the club almost six years ago. He has a contract that runs until the end of the 2023/24 season with the option of an extra year after the club gave him a new contract last summer on the back of his failed move to Italian Serie A giants AS Roma.

Xhaka will miss the next two Arsenal games in all competitions due to the fact that his latest red card in theCarabao Cup semi-final first leg meeting at Anfield a few days back was his second red card of the season and this automatically attracted an extra game ban. His first red card of the season came in the league game against champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in August.
