Arsenal legend Ian Wright has said that if he were Luis Suarez, he ‘would give Liverpool another season’ amidst the Gunners continued pursuit of the Uruguay international, the Mail Online understands.
Wright also said that he would welcome the controversial striker to the club with open arms should he move to the Emirates, though he believes it would be a ‘strange’ choice by the 26 year old.
Arsene Wenger has so far been rebuffed in his attempts to sign Suarez, with his latest offer of £40m plus a pound rejected out of hand by the Merseyside club.
It had been thought that that figure would be enough to trigger a release clause in the former Ajax man’s contract, however this turned out not to be the case.
Liverpool manager Ian Ayre yesterday told Sky Sports News that he has no doubts that Suarez will remain at Anfield for the forthcoming season.
Nevertheless, the Reds appear to be on the verge of signing Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, after their official offer of £21.8m triggered a buy-out clause in the Brazilian’s contract, according to the Mirror.
Elsewhere, Crewe Alexandra have confirmed on their official website that they have re-signed midfielder Chuks Aneke on a six-month loan.
