Arsenal great Liam Brady has backed Jack Wilshere to match former Gunner Ashley Cole’s feat of winning 100 caps for England, ahead tonight’s friendly with Brazil at Wembley.
Brady, who will end his role as Head of Youth Development at the end of the season told The Mirror that Wilshere is set to play ‘a lot of games for England’, having overseen his progression to Arsenal team.
Meanwhile, England skipper Steven Gerrard has echoed Brady’s comments, describing the 21-year old midfielder as a ‘one-off’.
Both Wilshere and Gerrard are set to start in the centre of England’s midfield against the three times World Champions this evening.
Elsewhere, The Mirror have revealed that left back Andre Santos turned down a move to Galatasary last month.
The Turkish giants, who completed the signings of Dutch international midfielder Wesley Snjeider and Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba, reportedly had an offer accepted by the club, though the Brazilian chose to remain in North London, and is set to play in the Gunners forthcoming Champions League tie against Bayern Munich, with Kieran Gibbs injured and recent signing Nacho Monreal cup-tied.
Meanwhile, fellow defender Bacary Sagna has rebuffed claims that he is set to leave the club, telling French newspaper L’Equipe of his commitment to the cause.
