Mohamed Elneny is not such a well-known player at least in comparison other prominent figures who either joined or left a club during the previous transfer window but Arsene Wenger is extremely aware of what the Egpytian has to offer and the French manager has explained some of his reasons of why he decided to sign Elneny and what he is planning to do with his only winter transfer window signing.
Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger said: “He’s not a monster. So he’s not a powerhouse, he’s more a mobility player. That’s why I think he can suit our game. Winning the ball is not only down to power. It’s to switch on at the right moment, it’s a technique. You have players who are muscular and they lost fights against small players who are very slim because the small players they switch it on at the right moment. When do you switch your muscle on? It’s when the guy is in a weak position. It’s a real technique.”
Elneny made his Arsenal debut back on January 30 as he played from the start of Arsenal’s FA match against Burnley which concluded with a 2-1 victory for the team of Arsene Wenger as they advanced through the 5th round of the English competition and Elneny is already starting to get first team experience with his team.
He had been tipped by the transferrumours website to join Arsenal back in August 2015, but the deal ran out of time, and was subsequently only pushed through when the transfer window re-opened in Januray 2016.
Arsene Wenger is going through a superb season with Arsenal as the Premier League club is one of the favorites of winning the league title which they haven’t done in over 10 years. However, the Premier League is not the only competition that Arsenal are making a genuine charge as they are also competing in the FA Cup and Arsene Wenger’s team are the defending champions of this competition.
