Walcott pushing for start at Cardiff

Arsenal head to Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon looking to strengthen their hold at the top of the Premier League.

Theo Walcott is pushing for his first league start in over ten weeks after making back to back substitute appearances, while Kieran Gibbs is available for selection following illness.

Ryo Miyaichi is out with a hamstring injury, and joins Yaya Sanogo, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlian, Lukas Podolski and Abou Diaby on the side-lines.

Regardless of the weekend’s results, the Gunners are guaranteed to be in first place going in to December – a month where they face four of the sides currently sitting in the top eight of the division, and travel to Napoli in their final Champions League group game.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are considering a move for Paris Saint Germain’s want-away forward Edinson Cavani, according to the Express.

Reports in France have suggested that the Gunners are ready to pounce after learning that the Uruguay international is unhappy in the French capital, where Zlatan Ibrahimovic is currently taking the lion’s share of the plaudits.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also said to interested in securing the services of the 26 year old, who has scored twelve goals in seventeen club appearances so far this season.
