Club captain Thomas Vermaelen is set to return to the starting line-up for tomorrow evening’s visit of Liverpool, after recovering from the ankle injury he picked up in last week’s 5-1 win over West Ham United.
Mikel Arteta could also be in contention, though is more likely to be handed a place on the substitute’s bench.
Arsenal have distanced themselves from reports claiming that they are attempting to bring Barcelona striker David Villa to North London.
A deal had looked to be on the cards, but the Spanish giants have announced that the player is not for sale, which could see Arsene Wenger turn his attention to Adrian Lopez of Atletico Madrid.
The Gunners boss has long admired the forward, who has two full international caps for Spain.
Meanwhile Gertjan Verbeek, manager of Dutch Eredivise side AZ Alkhamar has stated that their 19 year old midfielder Adam Maher would be ‘perfect’ for Arsenal, though he would be reluctant to sell.
Maher has six goals in 22 appearances for AZ this season, and last year won his first cap for the Dutch national side.
Elsewhere, the club have announced that they will be visiting Indonesia this summer as part of their preparations for the 2013/2014 campaign.
