Oxlade-Chamberlain out for six weeks

Arsenal will be without midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for this evening’s Champions League play-off first leg against Fenerbache.

The 20 year old injured his knee in Saturday’s defeat to Aston Villa and will be out of action for up to six weeks though defenders Bacaray Sagna, Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal should all be available for selection.

Newcastle United have rejected a bid of around £10m from Arsenal for midfielder Yohan Cabaye, according to Sky Sports.

The Gunners are desperate to bring in some new faces after so far failing to land any of their top transfer targets, and have begun with a bid for the France international.

Wilshere keen on England captaincy

Steven Gerrard has backed Jack Wilshere to succeed him as England captain, the Daily Star has reported.

The pair are set to line up together in this evening’s friendly international at Wembley, where Roy Hodgson’s men will take on Scotland for this first time since the second leg of the Euro 2000 qualification play-off back in 1999.

Koscielny a target for Bayern

Arsenal centre back Laurent Koscielny has emerged as a transfer target for Bayern Munich, according to the Daily Mail.

The newly crowned European Champions will be managed by Pep Guardiola next season, and the Spaniard is keen to add the 27 year old to his squad, with the signing of Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Mario Gotze already confirmed.
