Calum Chambers admits Aubameyang has been bailing out Arsenal

Arsenal defender Calum Chambers has admitted that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been bailing out the Gunners during the early stages of the current campaign. The Gabon international has already notched seven goals from seven games across all competitions and six of them have come in the Premier League.


Speaking after the 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa, Chambers acknowledged that the team need to be defensively solid which has barely been the case during the early part of the season. He added that Aubameyang has been making the difference upfront with at least a goal or an assist in every game for the club this term.

Arsenal beat Spurs to close gap at the top

Arsenal’s chances of winning a first league title in a decade were boosted as they beat North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at White Hart Lane.

Tomas Rosicky’s second minute strike was enough to secure the Gunners a first league win at the home of their rivals in six and a half years, and move them to within four points of leaders Chelsea, who lost at Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal reclaim top spot with win at Villa

Arsenal have moved back to the top of the Premier League after beating Aston Villa 2-1 in the West Midlands yesterday evening.

First half goals from Jack Wilshere and the returning Olivier Giroud gave the Gunners a comfortable first half lead before Christian Benteke added a consolation for the hosts fifteen minutes from time with his first goal in four months.

Arsenal stay top after narrow win at Newcastle

Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over in form Newcastle United at St. James’ Park yesterday afternoon.

Olivier Giroud’s 65th minute header was enough to secure all three points for Arsene Wenger’s men, and move them back above Manchester City, who briefly overtook them after beating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Wenger backs Wilshere comments

Arsene Wenger has backed Jack Wilshere, after the midfielder made the headlines following comments he made regarding only English players representing England, the Express understands.

Wilshere’s views came in the light of Belgian midfielder Adnan Januzaj’s eye-catching performance for Manchester United at the weekend, which led to talk of him being able to represent England in the future due residency rules.

The 21 year old then took to Twitter to clarify that his comments were not a personal swipe at Januzaj, just his opinion in general, though he faced a backlash from cricketer Kevin Pieterson who pointed out a list of great British sportsmen who were born abroad.

However, Wenger has taken the side of his player, saying that he also believes that only an Englishman should manage the England team.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are reportedly considering a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan, according to the Mirror.

The USA international has impressed so far this season, including a stand-out performance which helped his side beat Arsenal on the opening day of the campaign.

The North London club were constantly linked with moves for a new goalkeeper during the summer, and despite bringing in Emiliano Viviano on loan, are set to start their search again when the transfer window reopens in January.

Ozil shines as Gunners win again

Arsenal continued their impressive run of form by beating Napoli 2-0 in their Champions League Group F clash yesterday evening.

Mesut Ozil fired in an impressive first goal for the club to open the scoring on eight minutes, before supplying Olivier Giroud with the chance to double the hosts advantage just seven minutes later.
