Forgotten man Sebastien Squillaci could make a return to the Arsenal line up for tomorrow’s trip to Sunderland, amidst an injury crisis for the Gunners.
Captain Thomas Vermaelen and Laurent Koscielny both look set sit out Saturday’s game, paving the way for Squillaci, who hasn’t featured at all this season, to take his place in the centre of defence.
Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott are also doubtful having both picked up knocks on international duty.
Elsewhere, Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic is reportedly Arsenal’s number one summer transfer target, as any potential deal for Barcelona’s David Villa seemingly now ruled out by Arsene Wenger.
Jovetic has scored 37 goals in 127 appearances for the Italian club since signing from Partizan Belgrade in 2008.
The Daily Mail has reported that club legend Patrick Vieira is the latest name to be linked with the Head of Youth Development position set to be vacated by Liam Brady at the end of the season.
Vieira is currently working with Manchester City as their football development executive.
Finally, striker Benik Afobe has joined Championship side Millwall on loan until the end of the season.
The 19 year old spent the first half of the season with Bolton Wanderers.
