Ozil and Giroud available for Marsielle clash

Arsene Wenger has been given a boost ahead of this evening’s Champions League group opener in Marsielle after top scorer Olivier Giroud and record signing Mesut Ozil were both passed fit.

The pair, who linked up for the Gunners first goal in the 3-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday have recovered from injury and illness respectively, while defender Per Mertesacker is available having missed the trip to the Stadium of Light.

Defender Isaac Hayden and forward Chukba Akpom have been named in the eighteen man squad, as the Arsenal manager remains short on numbers.

Wenger has said that he beliefs the clubs group, which also includes Borussia Dortmund and Napoli, is the toughest in the competition, and has targeted 10 points in order to progress to the knock out stages.

Elsewhere, Semi Ajayi has taken to Twitter to announce that he has signed for the club following a successful trial period.

The 19 year old defender has signed a four year contract having joined from Charlton Athletic, where he has been for the past ten years.

His only career appearances so far came in a loan spell with non-league side Dartford last season, while he was an unused substitute in the Addicks 2-1 win over Blackpool in January.
