Liverpool want £40m for Suarez

Liverpool have told Luis Suarez’s suitors that they will not even consider bids of less than £40million, the Metro understands.

The Gunners were reported to be preparing a fresh bid for the Uruguayan striker, who has repeatedly expressed his desire to leave Anfield this summer.

However, it is still thought to fall short of the £40million mark, with Real Madrid the most likely to meet the Red’s valuation of the 26 year old.

Meanwhile, the Express have reported that the Gunners will step up their interest in Swansea City captain Ashley Williams, amid fears that Thomas Vermaelen will miss the start of the season.

Williams, valued at £10million, has been on the clubs radar for some time, and is said to be keen on securing a move to the Emirates.

Vermaelen has been ruled out of the clubs pre-season tour of Asia due to a back injury, and there are doubts over whether the Belgian international will be fit for the Gunners host Aston Villa on August 17th.

Elsewhere, Nicklas Bendtner’s proposed move to Eintracht Frankfurt could fall through due to the strikers ‘unrealistic’ wage demands, according to the Metro.

The 25 year old has spent the last two seasons out on loan, firstly at Sunderland and then Juventus.
