Kallstrom closing in on Gunners debut

Kim Kallstrom could make his Arsenal debut in this weekend’s FA Cup quarter final against Everton as he closes in on a return to fitness, the Mirror understands.

The Sweden international became the Gunners’ only new signing during the January transfer window, but is yet to feature having arrived at the club carrying a back injury.

He was overlooked for his country’s midweek friendly against Turkey, leaving him to concentrate on his recovery at club level.

One member of Arsene Wenger’s squad who is still some way from recovery is Theo Walcott, though it has been reported that the England international may attend the World Cup as a pundit, according to the Mirror.

Walcott has impressed the BBC with his recent television work, and could join former teammate Thierry Henry as part of their team in Brazil in the summer.

Meanwhile, the club have joined Atletico Madrid in the race to sign Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, according to the Daily Star.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has long been linked with a move for the new goalkeeper as he looks to add competition for Poland international Wojciech Szczesny, while Atleti are also on the lookout for a replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who is set to return to Chelsea in the summer.
