Jovetic deal not yet done

Fiorentina have denied that striker Stevan Jovetic is on the verge of joining Arsenal, after confirming that they are yet to receive an offer from the club.

FIFA agent Guido Di Domenico had claimed that the deal was nearing completion, though it appears that he was misinformed.

Meanwhile, midfielder Abou Diaby has been ruled out for up to nine months with a knee injury.

The 26 year old missed the majority of last season with ankle and calf problems, and has made just 92 league appearances since January 2006.

In other injury news, Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere will be given a week extra to recover from the ankle injury he sustained in the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at the beginning of the month.

With Theo Walcott also side-lined after suffering a pelvic tear on international duty, and Kieran Gibbs yet to recover from illness, Arsene Wenger’s options have been severely limited for tomorrow’s game with Reading.

The Gunners will be keen to keep pace with the top four by taking all three points from a side who have lost their last five league games, but will be buoyed following the appointment of Nigel Adkins as their new manager.
