Higuain deal close, according to his father

Gonzalo Higuain’s father has confirmed that Arsenal are in advanced talks with the Argentina international, with a move set to be completed in the next few days.

However, the Express have reported that Juventus could still pip the Gunners to landing the Real Madrid man, with Higuain senior confirming that an agreement with both clubs have been reached.

Meanwhile, the same source has claimed that Arsenal are yet to make contact with Swansea City regarding a move for their captain Ashley Williams.

The defender has been strongly linked with a move away from the Liberty Stadium having led his side to League Cup success last season, though Chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed the he has had no approaches from any club.

Elsewhere, the club are ready to offer Arsene Wenger a new contract, according to the Mirror.

The Frenchman is reportedly a target for Paris Saint Germain, who have appointed Laurent Blanc as their new manager on a one year-rolling contract, indicating that the mega-rich club could still be interested in the Gunners manager, whose current deal expires next year.
