Henry the go between?

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is trying to do his old club a favour by persuading his former Barcelona teammate Victor Valdes to move to the Emirates.

The Spanish goalkeeper is set to leave the Nou Camp at the end of the season, with Arsenal one of a number of clubs said to be interested in his services.

However, the Gunners could have the upper hand after reports in Spain suggest that Henry is hoping to facilitate the move.

Meanwhile, German newspaper Bild has reported that Per Mertesacker is in line for a return to Germany.

The defender, who has faced criticism for a number of performances in an Arsenal shirt, only signed for Werder Bremen in August 2011.

The Metro have claimed that Hamburg are ready to take a chance on Nicklas Bendtner, who is set to leave the Emirates at the end of the season.

The Danish striker, who is currently on at Juventus, was arrested earlier this month for a drink-driving offence in Copenhagen.

Elsewhere, Juve and Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Lukas Podolski, though with the club having limited options in forward positions, they would be unlikely to consider any approach for the player, who signed from Cologne last summer.
