Gunners claim top spot

The club will now turn their attention to Wednesday evening’s Champions League group opener against Marsielle.

Their plans have already been disrupted, after Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud joined an already lengthy injury list, though the latter took to Twitter too quash fears of any serious damage.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Samuel Eto’o has admitted that he was close to securing a move to Arsenal at the beginning of the century, the Daily Star understands.

At the time, the Cameroonian was struggling to hold down a place at Real Madrid, but it was fellow La Liga side Mallorca who swept in to secure his services.
