Giroud looking forward to Gunners chance

He has been linked with a move to the Gunners for the past few months, yet Olivier Giroud finally completed his transfer to the Emirates Stadium this week in a deal reported to be worth £13m. It appears as though the France international is looking to make as much of an impact as he did at Montpellier, stating that he can’t wait for his chance with Arsenal and is confident that the team can win a trophy in the near future.

Having been one of the key pieces in Montpellier’s unbelievable Ligue 1 success last term, Giroud has quickly moved to be one of the most sought after strikers in Europe. Gunners supporters will now be hoping that Giroud can be part of some more surprise success and add another trophy to his collection during his time at the Emirates Stadium.

He certainly appears confident as well, telling Arsenal Player, “There is a good spirit here, and that is another reason why I chose this club. I am confident in the potential of the group and I am convinced that in the future, hopefully next season, we can win something. I have the weapons to do well here. I will need some time to adapt of course, but I am not worried about that. I think I will adapt well. I am a player who likes to play, who likes to participate in the game. That is why I think the way Arsenal play will suit me.”

Of course, a lot of the potential for success will depend on Robin Van Persie. With RVP’s Euro 2012 campaign now over, it’s understood that the club are seeking a decision on his future sooner rather than later. Should he decide to stay at the Emirates Stadium, Arsene Wenger is likely to play a front three of RVP, Lukas Podolski and Giroud.
