The chances of Cesc Fabregas returning to England have seemingly reduced with the former Arsenal captain describing rumours of his leaving Barcelona as ‘absurd’.
The 26 year old has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United, as well as a possible return to the Emirates having been in and out of the first team during his time at the Nou Camp.
Speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca, Fabregas has stressed that he wants to remain with the Catalan club:
“If someone says anything that isn’t that I want to play at Barca, its completely absurd.”
One Barcelona player who may still be on his way to Arsenal is striker David Villa, who is finally set to be sold this summer, the Daily Star understands.
Spain’s all-time top scorer has been linked with a move to the Emirates for some time, whilst North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be interested.
Villa is valued at around £12million, and could be approached should the proposed moves for Gonzalo Higuain of Real Madrid and Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic fall through.
Finally, Nicklas Bendtner finally looks to be on his way out of North London, with the Gunners accepting no less than five bids for the striker.
