Julio Cesar has told reporters that he hopes to stay in London next season, fuelling speculation that he could be about to join Arsenal.
The 33 year old, who yesterday helped Brazil to a 3-0 win over European and World Champions Spain in the final of the Confederations Cup, looks set to leave Queens Park Rangers following their relegation to the Championship.
Arsenal have long been the favourites to secure the goalkeeper’s services, though a return to Italy, where he spent seven years before moving to Loftus Road, has also been mooted.
Meanwhile, the Express understand that the club have seen a bid of £6m for French midfielder Clement Grenier rejected by Lyon.
The 22 year old has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal after Arsene Wenger likened him to former Gunner Samir Nasri, though it appears that they will need to table an improved bid should they want to secure his services.
Elsewhere, Laurent Koscielny has moved to end speculation of him leaving the club.
The 27 year old has been linked with moves to both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, but has stressed that he is enjoying life at the Emirates.
He told the Metro: “The facts are simple: I have a contract at a club where I am happy. Full stop. We all know how situations change in football but I repeat that I’m not one to make castles in the sky.”
