Bernard set to snub Arsenal

Arsenal are set to miss out on Brazil international Bernard, with the midfielder’s agent confirming that he is set to join either Porto or Shakhtar Dontesk, ESPN understands.

Reports in France had suggested that the 20 year old was due for a medical with the North London club, though Arsene Wenger moved to state that that wasn’t the case.

Instead, the Atletico Mineiro man, who last week helped his side clinch the Copa Libertadores, is likely to secure a move to either Portugal or Ukraine, with his international teammate Hulk recommending the former having spent over four years at the Estadio do Dragao before moving to Russia last summer.

Meanwhile, the Arsenal manager has said that he is prepared to wait for his transfer targets, and claims that the Gunners can challenge for the title next season regardless of whether or the not the club make any new additions, according to Sky Sports.

Arsenal are leading the chase for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, though they will have to improved their bid of £40m plus a pound if they are to secure his services with the Reds holding out for a fee closer to £50m.

Elsewhere, Joel Campbell has joined Olympiakos on a season long loan, Sky Sports understands.

The 21 year old has spent the last two years on loan with both Lorient an Real Betis, and will now move to Greece as he continues to gain experience before challenging for a place at the Emirates.
