Barca readying Wilshere bid

Barcelona are preparing a generous offer for Jack Wilshere, according to the Daily Star.

It has emerged that the La Liga champions have sent scouts to cast an eye over the England international, and they are expected to make an opening bid when the transfer window reopens in January.

Chief’s at the Catalan club see the 21 year old as someone who could fill the void soon to be left by 33 year old Xavi, while fellow centre midfielder Andreas Iniesta is also entering the twilight of his career.

Wilshere, who scored his second goal of the season in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Norwich City, signed a five year deal at the Emirates back in December, and manager Arsene Wenger will not let the midfielder go without a fight.

Meanwhile, Fernando Llorente reportedly targeting a move to Arsenal, as he looks to play more regularly ahead of next summer’s World Cup finals, the Express understands.

The 28 year old scored in a rare start for Juventus yesterday evening as the Serie A champions fell to a 2-1 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

He has made just three starts in the league for the Old Lady since switching from Athletic Bilbao in the summer.
