Arteta: New signings will come

Mikel Arteta is confident that Arsenal will sign new players before the transfer window closes on September 2nd, according to the Daily Star.

France under 20 striker Yaya Sanogo is the only player to have arrived at the Emirates so far this summer, though vice-captain Arteta believes it is only a matter of time before the big names arrive.

The club have been linked with a whole host of possible marquee signings, most notably Luis Suarez, though they have seen two bids for the Uruguay international rejected out of hand by Liverpool.

They were also hopeful of landing Gonzalo Higuain, though he opted to join Serie A runners-up Napoli.

Another player that looks to have opted for a move to Italy rather than the Emirates is Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar, the Daily Star understands.

Fiorentina are close to signing the Brazil international, who was one of a number of want-away players left out of Queens Park Rangers match day squad for the season opener against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Elsewhere, the Daily Star also report that Malaga are to revive their interest in forward Nicklas Bendtner.

The 25 year spent the majority of last season on loan at Juventus, but made just eleven appearances in all competitions before returning to North London, where he hasn’t played since March 2011.
