Aston Villa are reportedly eyeing a raid for Shakthar Donetsk attacker Manor Solomon ahead of the winter transfer window in January. This is according to the report from English publication Sport Witness which revealed that the Israeli international could leave Ukraine for the Premier League at the start of next year.
Solomon is not a newcomer to transfer links involving Premier League teams as he was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal during this summer’s transfer window. In the end, Arsenal opted not to make a move for him with the club concentrating on recruiting defenders and midfielders.
Arsenal spent the most money amongst the Premier League teams this summer with the likes of Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Albert SambiLokonga, Ben White, TakehiroTomiyasu and Nuno Tavares joining the club. Norwegian international skipper Odegaard was the only attacking player signed by the Gunners in this summer’s transfer window and he had spent the second half of last season at the club on loan from Spanish giants Real Madrid before the move was made permanent this summer.
Apart from Arsenal, Aston Villa were one of the clubs who spent most money in the transfer window as they tried to plug the gap left by the exit of former skipper Jack Grealish. Manchester City made England international Grealish the most expensive player in British football when they paid £100m for him this summer.
In response to the exit of Grealish, Aston Villa signed a lot of attacking players including England national team striker Danny Ings, Jamaican international Leon Bailey and Argentine national team playmaker Emiliano Buendia. Villa are not ready to stop signing players in attacking positions following the news of their interest in Shakthar Donetsk star Solomon who came to the notice of a lot of football stakeholders when he scored in both legs of the Champions League group stage clash with Real Madrid.
