Arsenal are hoping of confirming a deal for Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain this week, according to the Daily Mail.
The Gunners are preparing a club record £22million bid for the Argentina international, who is reported to have privately agreed to make the switch to the Emirates.
The 25 year old has confirmed that he is leaving the Bernabeu this summer, having fallen behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the pecking order.
He did however get sixteen goals in twenty-six La Liga appearances last season, as well as scoring prolifically for his country, for whom he has nine goals in eleven World Cup qualifying matches.
The Gunners are also reportedly leading the chase for Spanish under 21 international Asier Illarramendi.
The Real Sociedad defensive midfielder has impressed this season, and is set to play in this afternoon’s European Championships final against Italy in Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail understands that Laurent Koscielny and Bacaray Sagna will both end doubts over their future by confirming they will remain at Arsenal.
Both defenders have been linked with a move away from the Emirates, with Sagna a reported target for Paris Saint Germain and Monaco, while Bayern Munich and Barcelona are said to be considering making a move for Koscielny.
