Arsenal are set to miss out on yet another transfer target with Bayern Munich’s Luiz Gustavo on the verge of completing a move to Wolfsburg, according to the Metro.
The Brazil international, who had been linked with a move to the Emirates, appears to have opted to remain in the Bundesliga.
Reports suggest that the Gunners had bid £17m for the midfielder, who is not thought to be part of new manager Pep Guardiola’s plans going forward.
Arsenal have already missed out on Gonzalo Higuain this summer, with the Argentina striker eventually moving to Napoli, while goalkeeper Julio Cesar also looks likely to move to Serie A as opposed to the Emirates.
Meanwhile, the Luis Suarez saga went into overdrive yesterday, with initial reports suggesting that the Uruguay international had made a dramatic U-Turn on his desire to leave Liverpool.
However, the striker has denied that he said anything of the sort and again looks to be holding out for a move away from Anfield.
Finally, Theo Walcott scored an impressive equaliser in England’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Scotland in the friendly international at Wembley yesterday evening.
Roy Hodgson’s men had trailed twice, but eventually secured the victory thanks to debutant Rickie Lambert’s 70th minute winner.
