Arsenal missed the chance to return to the top of the Premier League after being held by champions Manchester United at the Emirates yesterday evening.
The hosts had the majority of the possession and the chances in a largely disappointing encounter, with Olivier Giroud coming closest to making the breakthrough while Santi Cazorla drew two fine saves out of United keeper David De Gea late on.
The Gunners are now just a point behind Chelsea ahead of their next league match against Sunderland on Saturday week, though they will first turn their attention to Sunday’s FA Cup fifth round tie with Liverpool.
They then face Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League last sixteen clash at the Emirates on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has reportedly met with Mario Balotelli’s agent to discuss a possible transfer, the Metro understands.
The club are keen to bolster their front line when the transfer window reopens, having not made any additions in the recently closed winter transfer window.
Balotelli moved to AC Milan from Manchester City a year ago, and has scored an impressive twenty-four goals in thirty-nine appearances for the Italian side, who are now managed by former midfielder Clarence Seedorf.
