Arsenal keen for response against champions

Arsenal will be looking to bounce back from their humiliation 5-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield last time against champions Manchester United at the Emirates this evening.

Three points for Arsene Wenger’s men will see them return to the top of the league, after leaders Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion yesterday evening.

Yaya Sanogo is available having recovered from a back injury that has kept him out for the past five months, and the France U21 international will be hoping to add to the two brief substitute appearances he has made since signing from Auxerre in the summer.

Mathieu Flamini serves the final game of a three match suspension, while Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey, Kim Kallstrom, Abou Diaby and Thomas Vermaelen are all out injured.

Robin van Persie is in line for his second return to the Emirates since signing for United in August 2012.

The Dutch international, who scored 132 goals in eight years with the Gunners, netted the winner when the sides met at Old Trafford in November, while he also grabbed the equaliser from the penalty spot in the 1-1 draw in last season’s corresponding fixture.
