Arsenal in for Richards

The Daily Star have reported that Arsenal will battle with Liverpool for the signature of out-of-favour Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

Arsene Wenger has long been an admirer of the England international, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium, largely due to the form of Pablo Zabaleta.

Meanwhile, The Mirror have reported that Aston Villa’s Matthew Lowton is the Gunners number one target for a new right back.

Lowton has been a rare shining light in a largely disappointing season for Aston Villa, who remain far from securing their Premier League status following last night’s defeat to Champions Manchester United.

Both reports add to speculation that Bacary Sagna could be sold in the summer, with Paris Saint Germain his most likely destination.

One play that definitely won’t be signing for the Gunners is Germany international Mario Gotze, after Borussia Dortmund today confirmed that he will sign for Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich for a fee in the region of £32 million.

Finally, Jack Wilshere is set to be fit for Sunday afternoon’s visit of Manchester United, after it was confirmed that the midfielder was rested for the win over Fulham after being “in pain” following the goalless draw with Everton last Tuesday.

Arsene Wenger believes that following a break of around twelve days, Wilshere should be able to feature, as Arsenal look to strengthen their grip on a top four place.
