Arsenal in for Falcao

After the club announced half year pre-tax profits of almost £18 million pounds, and cash reserves of over £123 million, Arsenal find themselves linked with one of the hottest properties in European football – Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao.

Chelsea and Real Madrid appear to be favourites to secure the services of the Columbian international, who has scored 45 goals in just 56 league games since arriving in the Spanish capital from Porto in 2011.

Arsene Wenger revealed that the Gunners are in a position to offer Falcao his reported £150,000-a-week wages, as well as being able to stump up the £40 million asking price.

Meanwhile, reports on goal.com suggest that Udinese striker Matej Vydra is also on Arsenal’s radar.

The Czech Republic international is currently on loan at Watford, where his 20 goals in 30 games has help fire the Hornets to second place in the Championship.

Elsewhere, AC Milan forward M’Baye Niang has revealed that he turned down a move to the Emirates last summer.
The French Under-21 international signed for the Rossoneri last August, having trialled with Everton and Spurs, as well as Arsenal.

Elsewhere, the Gunners will head into the North London derby four points behind Tottenham who rose to third place after a last minute goal from Gareth Bale secured the victory.
