After the club announced half year pre-tax profits of almost £18 million pounds, and cash reserves of over £123 million, Arsenal find themselves linked with one of the hottest properties in European football – Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao.
Chelsea and Real Madrid appear to be favourites to secure the services of the Columbian international, who has scored 45 goals in just 56 league games since arriving in the Spanish capital from Porto in 2011.
Arsene Wenger revealed that the Gunners are in a position to offer Falcao his reported £150,000-a-week wages, as well as being able to stump up the £40 million asking price.
