Christian Benteke has alerted his potential suitors by hinting that he may be willing to leave Aston Villa, even if the club insist on the Belgian international staying at Villa Park.
The £30 million striker, who has been linked with moves to Arsenal and north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, hit 19 goals to help Paul Lambert’s men secure their Premier League status.
Atletico Madrid are also considering tabling a bid for the 22 year old, as they look for a replacement for Radamel Falcao, who is expected to leave in the summer.
Benteke signed for Aston Villa from Belgian side Genk last summer in a bargain £7 million deal.
Meanwhile, a deal for the Gunners to sign Swansea City defender Ashley Williams has been agreed, according to Goal.com.
The Wales captain, who guided his Swansea to their first major trophy in the League Cup this season, will cost somewhere between £8 million and £10 million.
The news follows reports that Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen is set to leave the Emirates after four years in North London.
Manchester United and Barcelona have already reportedly shown an interest in the Belgian international, and now Serie A side Napoli are said to be monitoring the defender’s situation.
