Arsenal hoping to reclaim fourth with Wigan win

Arsenal will be looking to move back into fourth place by taking three points against a Wigan Athletic side equally desperate for a victory at the Emirates this evening.

Lukasz Fabianski could return in goal after recovering from a rib injury, while Kieran Gibbs is also available for selection though Olivier Giroud misses out as he completes a three match ban.

The Gunners will be sure of qualifying for next seasons Champions League should they win here and at Newcastle United on Sunday. If they drop points, they will need Tottenham Hotspur to do so against Sunderland in their final game.

Barcelona’s title win means that they will have to stump up a further £2 million pounds as part of the deal that took Cesc Fabregas to the Nou Camp, while Jay Simpson’s promotion to the Premier League with Hull City is set to earn Arsenal £500,000.

Elsewhere, advisors of Roberto Mancini have reportedly revealed that is the Italian’s ambition to one day manages Arsenal.

Mancini was sacked by Manchester City yesterday after the board declared that he “had failed to achieve any of the club’s targets, with the exception of qualification for next season’s Champions League”.
