Arsenal favourites to complete Higuain deal

Serie A Champions Juventus have agreed a fee for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez, leaving Arsenal as clear favourites to sign his international teammate Gonzalo Higuain.

The Real Madrid forward has been heavily linked with the Gunners and the Serie A Champions since announcing that he is to leave the Bernabeu this summer.

Arsenal have seemingly had the edge in the race for several days, though Higuain’s father had announced that his son was in advanced talks with both clubs.

However, with Tevez due in Turin for a medical today, the path appears to be clear for Arsenal to wrap up a deal for the 25 year old, who has scored 107 goals in 176 appearances for Real since signing from River Plate in 2006.

Meanwhile, the club’s hopes signing Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar have taken a knock after the 33 year old opened the door to a return to Serie A .

Cesar is set to leave Queens Park Rangers after spending just one, unsuccessful year with the club following a seven year spell with Inter Milan.

He is currently out in Brazil competing in the Confederations Cup and will start in goal for the hosts in this evenings semi-final against Uruguay.
