Arsenal face tough test in Champions League group stage

Arsenal have been handed a tough draw in the group stages of this seasons Champions League.

The Gunners face arguably the hardest task of all the four English sides in the competition having been pitted against Marseille, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, the club go into Sunday afternoon’s North London derby at the Emirates with a number of injury concerns, with up to seven first team players likely to miss out.

Striker Lukas Podolski has been ruled out for over two months having injured his hamstring in Tuesday evening.

Captain Thomas Vermaelen has a back injury, while midfield quintet Abou Diaby, Mikel Arteta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere are also side-lined, though the latter two may just recover in time.

Elsewhere, Arsenal will make a £70m triple swoop for Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, Angel Di Maria and Mezut Ozil, the Mail Online understands.

Arsene Wenger is likely to make a move once the Spanish giants complete their proposed world record signing of Gareth Bale, though of course, time is running out with the window set to close at 11pm on Monday evening.

Finally, the Gunners boss has said that there could be a way back for Nicklas Bendtner at the club, despite it looking highly likely that the Denmark international would be calling time on his eight year spell in North London.
