ARSENAL FACE STIFF COMPETITION FOR STRIKER SIGNING

The quest to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal has officially begun and even though it is expected to be a tedious process, starting from the scouting stage to outlining a number of targets and potential replacements, the Gunners have been tasked with the responsibility of making the transfer as soon as the summer transfer window opens for business in a few months.

According to a report published by Fichajes, Barcelona are in a transfer tussle with Real Madrid and Arsenal for Lille superstar Jonathan David. David has been in exceptional form all season, scoring 12 goals in 26 appearances. As an ambidextrous player who can play deeper as well, the Canadian is a very well-rounded striker, and, thus, is on the agenda of a lot of clubs across the continent.

Barcelona are on the lookout to improve their attack, with Erling Haaland the main priority. They have to be, however, prepared with alternatives if the transfer falls through. Madrid, on the other hand, have Karim Benzema leading their line in exceptional form. The Frenchman is one of the best players in Europe this season and will likely continue in that role even if the club can sign Kylian Mbappe or even David.

Arsenal seems the likeliest of the destinations of the three. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang no longer at the club, and Alexandre Lacazette’s contract expiring this year, the Gunners have to look for a long-term replacement.

Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak is said to be on their transfer list, but David, at 22, could be fit the bill just as well. Moreover, the Swedish international is said to be ‘dreams’ of a move to Barcelona. Either way, it will be interesting to see where the striker ends up moving to in the summer transfer window.
