Wenger set for spending spree?

A variety of newspapers have today reported that Arsene Wenger will be handed a huge transfer budget in order to strengthen his squad in the summer.

The Guardian, The Mirror and The Daily Telegraph tout a figure of £70 million, with a host of names being linked with moves to North London.

The latest potential deal for Barcelona striker David Villa is as part of a £22 million double swoop that includes goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to Talk Sport.

The pair have both repeatedly been linked with moves away from the Nou Camp, with Villa making a limited number of appearances and Valdes keen on a new challenge.

The agent of Fernando Amorebieta has claimed that the player is in talks with Arsenal over a potential £26 million move in the summer.

Gines Carvajal has said that both Everton and Liverpool are also interested in the Athletic Bilbao defender, though it is thought that the Emirates is his favoured destination.

Other names in the frame are Liverpool’s Pepe Reina, Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama and Stevan Jovetic of Fiorentina.

Elsewhere, Vito Manonne has revealed that he may have to leave Arsenal in the summer in order to find first team football.

The Italian keeper has made just fifteen league appearances since signing for the club in 2005.
