Callum Chambers to return to Arsenal for pre-season Training

England centre-back Callum Chambers have confirmed that he will return to parent club Arsenal this summer following an impressive loan spell with Middlesbrough last season.

The 22-year-old appeared in a total of 25 league outings for Boro, but he was unable to prevent the Riverside club from Premier League relegation.

Chambers played through all four games in the recent Under-21 European Championships where the Three Lions lost out on penalties to Germany in the semi-final stage. The England Under-20 side recently ended the nation’s long hunt for silverware but their older age counterparts failed to progress due to a familiar shoot-out exit. Continue reading

ARSENAL CHARGED FOR FIELD INVASION

Premier League side Arsenal FC have been charged by UEFA for “field invasion” by the fans of the club during the game against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, according to reports.

The Gunners were thrashed 5-1 in the return leg of the Round of 16 fixture at the Emirates Stadium. A fan was picked up as he ran onto the pitch in the final minutes of the game.

The result was a very humiliating one for the team, since they had lost the first leg in Germany by the same scoreline – this makes 10-2 aggregate.

The German side did not escape a charge as UEFA found them culpable as well. The club supporters threw objects onto the pitch after the game began. This forced the game to be stopped for a while. The fans were not happy with the ticket prices and decided to let their feelings known that way.

Bayern Munich qualified for the last eight of the tournament, with goals from striker Robert Lewandowski, wingers Arjen Robben and Douglas Costa and a brace from former Juve player Arturo Vidal. They join Real Madrid – who dispatched Napoli 1-3 in Italy – to go onto the next stage. Continue reading

Arsene Wenger Ready for a Huge Challenge against Bayern Munich

Arsene Wenger insisted that Arsenal remain up for the huge challenge against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The gunners are once again set for a difficult opponent in the last 16 stage of the competition. In the last few years, they have faced such tough opposition largely as a result of finishing second in the group. This time around, the club have been unlucky to come up against the Bavarian giants despite finishing top of the group. Arsenal come into the game under a lot of pressure as a result of falling 10 points behind Chelsea in the Premier League.

Any slim hopes of winning the Premier League title for the first time since the 2003-04 season seemed to have vanished. There have been calls for Wenger to step down from his role at the end of the campaign. These have intensified speculation about the Frenchman’s future, as his current contract with the club runs out at the end of the campaign. Continue reading

MORATA CONSIDERING ARSENAL OPTION

Alvaro Morata could be on his way from Real Madrid, according to reports.

The forward is said to be unhappy at the Bernebeu and could be on his way to England if things do not change at the end of the season.

The Spanish international returned to the club last year after the club triggered a clause in his contract with Juventus. Morata was successful at Juventus but agreed to a return to the defending Champions League side. However, he has struggled since his return, with Diario Gol reporting that the drop in form at the club and Manager Zinedine Zidane’s insistence on Karim Benzema as the first choice irrespective of form the player would exit Madrid.

Morata has managed to get nine goals despite few playing time and is rumoured to be near highest levels of dissatisfaction. A lot of Premier League and La Liga side would sign him at the slightest chance they get. When the player reportedly voiced his unrest at the club the president Florentino Perez asked that any interested club offer over £50 million for his services. Continue reading

Arsenal still in Race in League

Arsenal kept themselves in the race for the top three after a 1-0 win over Norwich City.

This allowed them to take full advantage of Manchester City’s 4-2 loss against Southampton. The gunners now have a three-point advantage over City with two games remaining. More importantly, they can now afford to slip up in the next league match against City, but Manuel Pellegrini’s team can take advantage of their slightly better goal difference. Arsenal’s struggles in front of goal continued in the game against Norwich, who are threatened against relegation.

The gunners have now scored only three goals in as many games and this is not sufficient to reduce the goal difference deficit compared with City. Still, getting three points gives the team morale boost and they will be hoping that City are tired following their Champions League exertions against Real Madrid in the midweek. There are several aspects that still have to be improved like the form of striker Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman has been struggling in front of goal for quite a while now. He has managed to score only once in the last 21 games of all competitions and once again failed to find the net during the weekend. Continue reading

WENGER BACKS XMAS BREAK

Arsene Wenger has claimed that he would not be a happy man without football during Christmas, as it has become a part of him over the last two decades or so.

Many new managers coming to the Premier League have complained about the excessive amount of fixtures during the Christmas period. However, the manager like Wenger, who came to the English league in 1996, says that it has been a part of the English game and it adds to the drama. Many teams have lost to the title during this period mainly because they have been unable to cope with the large number of matches in a short amount of time.

Arsene Wenger has stated that the club do not need a player like Arturo Vidal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that the club do not need a player like Arturo Vidal. The defensive midfielder has been acclaimed as one of the best in the world for his performances with Juventus. The Italian club have benefited fromVidal’s ability not just to make tackles, but to also start attacks. He has formed an impeccable partnership with Paul Pogba in the centre of midfield and this has seen the club make an appearance in the Champions League final after more than a decade of absence.Vidal has constantly turned down transfer rumours, but speculation continues to grow that Arsenal will make an offer for him.

Rejecting any chance of signing the Chilean international to go along with Alexis Sanchez, Wenger stated that the club do not need a defensive midfielder likeVidal. This is against the opinions of several fans and pundits, who feel that Arsenal will be much stronger with a defensive midfielder of the highest quality. Towards the second half of last campaign, Wenger was largely trusting FrenchmanFrancis Coquelin as the defensive linchpin, but the 24-year-old is only now starting to establish himself as a first-team regular. He does not have the experience that can come close to a player likeVidal. Continue reading

Monaco knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League

On March 17 of the current year, As.Monaco knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League thanks to away goals and Arsene Wenger later went on expressing his dissatisfaction towards that rule as the French manager believes stated that it should be eliminated from the Champions League and the Europa League.

Arsene Wenger has once again voiced his opinion concerning something in the world of football and this time it’s involving referees.

A few weeks ago, Zlatan Ibrahimovic received a red card after he tackled Chelsea’s Oscar during a Champions League match but after seeing replays of the tackle, the red card did appear to be way too harsh as the Swedish player did not deserve to be removed from the match due to the tackle.

When the match was over, Ibrahimovic stated that he felt he was around 11 babies in the pitch as the Chelsea players surrounded the referee and the Swedish attacker. The players of the squad of Jose Mourinho tried to put pressure and complain to the referee who still had not made his decision on giving away the red card. Continue reading
