GUNNERS CHASE SHAW
English Premier League club Arsenal are all set to compete with fellow powerhouses of the English league Chelsea and Manchester City for the signing of 16 year Southampton left back Luke Shaw.
The England Under-17 international has caught the eye of almost all the big clubs in the top tier of English football and Southampton are looking to cash in on the talented left wing back and have slapped a £ 4 million transfer fee on him.
The teenager is yet to play a senior match for The Saints and yet his exploits with The Three Lions has caught the eye of all and sundry.
The Southampton Football Academy is known for producing and nurturing talented players and Luke Shaw is looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow academy graduates in the English Premier League, namely Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain at Arsenal and Gareth Bale at North London rival Tottenham Hotspur. The Gunners fans are hoping that the youngster will want to reunite with former teammate at the junior level, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain who joined the club in the summer.
The manager Arsene Wenger is famous for his policy of buying youngsters and turning them into superstars and he is hoping that he will be able to convince Luke Shaw to trade the Championship side for life with the 13 time English champions.
However, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City on the prowl and Manchester United also reportedly interested, Wenger knows that he will not be able to compete with them in case of a bidding war and his only hope is the player’s wish to play for Arsenal. However, where the youngster does decide to play is another question as he is still basking in all the glory and not looking to leave The Saints’ academy anytime soon.
