Can Olivier Giroud fire Arsenal to Premier League-FA Cup double?

Over halfway through the season and Arsenal look well placed to challenge for multiple trophies in 2016. The Gunners are currently fighting at the top of the Premier League table and secured their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over Championship side Burnley at the weekend.

At the beginning of the campaign, plenty of supporters were critical of Arsenal’s transfer policy. Arsene Wenger opted to place of all his trust in Olivier Giroud as the main striker instead of moving for the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Karim Benzema in the summer transfer window – a decision that was not universally accepted.

However, the Gunners are currently motoring towards their first league crown since 2004 and could well secure a third consecutive FA Cup triumph. Plenty of bookmakers, such as Coral, are offering football tips on Arsenal to win the title but Wenger will be looking to win both competitions. After all, the FA Cup has saved his job in recent years.

Olivier Giroud has flourished as Arsenal’s main man this season and the Frenchman has really stepped up to the plate. In recent years, he hasn’t shown enough to suggest he can lead Arsenal to the title but that all changed in 2015. With Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez also in fine form, the Gunners are creating a plethora of opportunities and Giroud is finishing them.

While the Arsenal frontman isn’t going to challenge the likes of Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane for the Premier League top scorer accolade, he’s proven himself as Arsenal’s leading striker and is capable of interchanging with the Gunners’ free-flowing attacking midfielders. In particular, Giroud has formed a great partnership with Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott – and Arsenal have benefited directly from this.

In the meantime, punters can keep up with the latest information via Coral’s website. They are the the no. 1 for football news and plenty of Arsenal backers will be placing bets on the Gunners in the coming weeks and months. At the time of writing, Arsenal are priced at 15/8 to win the title and that MUST be their number one priority this season.

A domestic double would be absolutely fantastic, especially considering Arsenal’s ten year barren run after their unbeaten season in 2004. It isn’t beyond the realms of possibility this campaign and, with a bit of luck, there’s absolutely no reason why Wenger cannot lead the Gunners to victory in both competitions this season. It’s certainly an exciting time to be an Arsenal fan!
